Rosa Parks is a very well-known civil rights activist in history and this book highlights all of the courageous actions Rosa took to fight for justice。 She inspired so many people to start fighting for justice and take courageous actions just as she did。 This book along with the story of Claudette Colvin are incredible examples of leaders who began the Civil Rights Movement。

The theme in this book is having respect for yourself and demanding respect from others, and Rosa Parks definitely did this。 The story focuses on the racial disparities during the course of Rosa's lifetime, with illustrations showing the segregated classrooms, public transportation, and even drinking fountains。 This book is the most historically accurate without whitewashing the details, which is nice。 It's not completely in-your-face, but it definitely covers the important points in this story。 The theme in this book is having respect for yourself and demanding respect from others, and Rosa Parks definitely did this。 The story focuses on the racial disparities during the course of Rosa's lifetime, with illustrations showing the segregated classrooms, public transportation, and even drinking fountains。 This book is the most historically accurate without whitewashing the details, which is nice。 It's not completely in-your-face, but it definitely covers the important points in this story。 Of all the Ordinary People books that I've read so far, this one is definitely my favorite! 。。。more

I think this is a great book for children to learn about Rosa Parks and how she became the women she was。 This book talks about Rosa Parks and her life from being a child to become the women who help start the civil rights movement。 I think this book is perfect for children in grades 1-3。 I really enjoyed reading this book。

“I Am Rosa Parks” by Brad Meltzer is an excellent award-winning historical fiction novel for children aged 3-7 interested in learning about Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights Movement。 Rosa's headstrong personality, even as a young girl, is depicted incredibly well by the author; she was still sticking up for herself, even though she felt it could get her in trouble。 The author depicts the bus incident and subsequent events in great detail。 This book is insightful, and the author highlights several “I Am Rosa Parks” by Brad Meltzer is an excellent award-winning historical fiction novel for children aged 3-7 interested in learning about Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights Movement。 Rosa's headstrong personality, even as a young girl, is depicted incredibly well by the author; she was still sticking up for herself, even though she felt it could get her in trouble。 The author depicts the bus incident and subsequent events in great detail。 This book is insightful, and the author highlights several important events in Rosa's life, emphasizing how African Americans were viewed during this sensitive era in history。 The illustrations depict Rosa's actual words as well as how her words and deeds sparked the Civil Rights Movement。 Overall, this is a great read for young readers that want to learn more about Rosa Parks and her great impact on the world。 。。。more

Such an amazing book for children。 Great beginner biography for the young students。 I love the way this book was written and the illustrations that are included。 The main character, Rosa Parks is an African American hero that all should learn about。 This book puts it perfectly why she is so heroic。

I am Rosa Parks is a great children's picture book that also acts as a biography of Rosa's life。 This book talks about her life before she decided to take a seat on the bus, and after。 You can see that throughout Rosa's life she had strong morals and lots of self-respect for others, but most importantly for herself。 This book not only talks about who Rosa Parks is but also explains what life looked like back in her time when she was a child and all the way to an adult, you can see the small chan I am Rosa Parks is a great children's picture book that also acts as a biography of Rosa's life。 This book talks about her life before she decided to take a seat on the bus, and after。 You can see that throughout Rosa's life she had strong morals and lots of self-respect for others, but most importantly for herself。 This book not only talks about who Rosa Parks is but also explains what life looked like back in her time when she was a child and all the way to an adult, you can see the small changes and bits of social justice come into play。 This is a great children's book that had meaningful messages for young readers and can also act as a history lesson。 I think that children can learn a lot from this book and it can be a great conversation starter in the classroom。 。。。more

This book did an amazing job of telling the story of Rosa Parks to the reader。 It made it very easy to understand and the illustrations provided a great visual。 I would definitely incorporate this in the classroom in grades 2nd-3rd, and could do an activity where the students pick one historical figure from a list, dress up as there person, then talk about who they were。 We did this in my 2nd grade classroom and it was super fun!

Not only was this book about Rosa Parks and events she went through at life。 It talked about how black and whites were segregated and could do things together。 She also talked about respect and that not only was it important to respect others but you need to have respect for yourself。 Rosa Parks set out to show that blacks and whites should be treated the same。

I read this as part of Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge and am not the intended audience but still very good。 I appreciated that Meltzer clarified that Rosa Parks's act of defiance was intentional。 She acted with purpose and agency to create the change that she and other Civil Rights leaders wanted to bring about。 Good lesson for children that "ordinary" people can change the world。 I read this as part of Book Riot's Read Harder Challenge and am not the intended audience but still very good。 I appreciated that Meltzer clarified that Rosa Parks's act of defiance was intentional。 She acted with purpose and agency to create the change that she and other Civil Rights leaders wanted to bring about。 Good lesson for children that "ordinary" people can change the world。 。。。more

This book would be good to read to a class to introduce them to who Rosa Parks is and to explain the racism and discrimination people faced when Rosa Parks was growing up and throughout her life。 Several famous historical events are mentioned in the book and are done so in a way that is appropriate for young readers。 The book explains how Rosa Parks helped change society。

This book is amazing! I applaud the author for not watering this down。 This is how it happened and this is the story they should hear。 Especially in this day and age。 I think this book will serve as a great tool to widen my students perspective and better understand hardships endured outside their every day world。
